I remember with pleasurable nostalgia the days I spent in solving most of the problems ( Loney calls them Examples) during 1955-1956 in Tiruchy, South India when I was eighteen. Now at 77, I find it a joy to solve the Problems at the end of each chapter. Perhaps the best way to prevent Alzheimer's.This book is a reprint of the old edition, but the print is clear and readably crisp.

I used this book in its original print form for college. It's dated, imperial units, but very useful. Wish I had the online edition at the time !
Don't mind that other review. The book is reprinted perfectly fine. Just take a look inside and you can see the pages are formatted properly. This is an exact copy of an older edition in the public domain. This book is kind of special. Ramanujan mastered it in his formative years. It's definitely the best trigonometry book I have come across.
This is probably one of the best Plane Trigonometry books in existence, great explanations of proofs and a great way to see how they did trigonometry "back in the day." However, the quality of this reprint is bad. The size of the book is deceiving. When you open it up you have a little 5x3 inch square of writing in the middle of the page. There is about 3 inches of blank space on each side surrounding it. This may be good for notes but the text is really small and a pain to read, not to mention the text itself is light in some areas. I know I'm returning mine to get a better one.
3 star is not for the book but for the kindle version of this book , it is not readable on my ipad as the pages were cheaply scanned ! when I zoom in to read the letters get smaller.
Plane Trigonometry is a great book! However, it's very difficult. I would recommend it to people with a math background, not for folks currently learning trigonometry. Also, the notation and perspective may not be your cup of tea (the book is very old).
The paperback printed copy I purchased was published in 2017, so it is in mint condition. The book is 7" x 9.75" and the print is very clear and easy to read.
This book was originally published in 1893, ie 125 years ago. I bought a copy of this book nearly 35 years ago, in 1983, to prepare for University entrance exams. As far as I can tell, my newer copy is identical in content. I'll keep this one for the next 35 years -)
I bought this book for my son. He's taking calculus in the fall and he never took trigonometry. He wanted get an introduction to trig before heading off to college. Standard math textbooks present definitions, theorems, and examples. It works; you learn how to "do it." This is a really old book written with a respect for the reader's ability to grasp ideas and pull them together. My son is enjoying the book and has started conversations with me about what he is learning. If you want definitions, theorems, and examples, don't get this book. If you want to experience trig from a more mature, and more interesting, angle, buy this book.
